The company has yet to reveal any specifications for the car, but experts predict it will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that obtains 200 HP (147 kW) and 205 Nm or 151 lb-ft of torque.

The FT-86 Open is a "study model" based on the rear-wheel-drive sports car "86" that was designed to test and verify different sports car variations according to the company press release.

The new model will come equipped with an electrically operated soft top, and the company promises that the people will get a completely different impression of the vehicle when the roof is opened.

The Milan-based designer color-coordinated interior and exterior is a result of design "evoking quality" and the company's goal to make their vehicles look more "sporty" according to Toyota.

"The showcar will help Toyota gauge public reaction to the idea, at the same time as it carries out engineering tests on a prototype," Toyota said according to Edmunds.

The exterior is similar to the coupe model, but features a custom high-contract white and navy blue interior with yellow-gold carpeting according to WorldCarFans.com.

The center stack includes three circular gauges accompanied by a GT 86 logo that the company confirms acts as a cellphone holder.
