Citroen started since 1919, but its premium sub-brand, named as DS Automobiles has only been around since its first announcement way back in 2009. The brand has launched a few concepts and no fewer than six individual models. But now at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show, the brand is now ready to release their new SUV, the 2018 DS 7 Crossback.
The new SUV will take on against its rivals such as the Lexus NX, Audi Q2, and the BMW X1. Designed for comfort and performance, it features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that produces 300 hp through all four wheels.
Yves Bonnefont, CEO of DS, said: "The DS 7 Crossback ushers in a second era for DS Automobiles. This global SUV, refined and high-tech, embodies French know-how by bringing together premium materials, craftsmanship and technological innovations. Its advanced equipment introduces new levels of driving comfort and performance."
The 2018 DS 7 Crossback is based on a similar platform as the Peugeot 3008 that was launched last fall in Paris. The new SUV features a new chrome grille that gives the car a premium appeal, while the active LED headlamps give a purple glow once doors are unlocked. A 3D pattern LEDs also can be seen at the rear end.
On the inside, the car gets the same watchstrap finish and stitching for its leather seats as in the DS 5 and DS 3, with five massage functions. The dashboard comes with a pair of 12-inch screens, with the layout crowned by a huge analog clock. Customers will be able to choose four cabin themes, and in spite, a sportier Performance Line version is also offered, the automaker's focus will still be on comfort and refinement.
Drivers can choose from 3 different modes such as Sport, Normal, and Comfort modes. It also features the latest range of autonomous driving features. It's equipped with a Connected Pilot system that delivers adaptive cruise control and steering, which helps navigate traffic jams without any input from the driver.
The 2018 DS 7 Crossback will also have the E-TENSE plug-in hybrid system, which is expected to hit dealers in 2019. With its 197bhp 1.6-liter turbo and two electric motors, it will produce 296bhp and can travel up to 37 miles in EV mode. The new SUV will hit UK showrooms next year.
