2018 Ford F-150 vs 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport: Who's The Tougher-Looking Pickup?

When it comes to trucks, they have to be tough in terms of engine and towing capacity. But both Ford and Toyota want their trucks to look the part as well, exuding aggressiveness to conquer any terrain. Based on the recently released pickups, let's check out who is tougher-looking between the 2018 Ford F-150 and 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport.

We will relatively base our comparisons on their hood, grilles, and wheels with a minor mention each of their engines, just to see if they do walk the talk. And it seems both vehicles took on a rugged look.

When Ford released its 2018 Ford F-150, it branded it as "Bold, Strength, Tough, Military." Meanwhile, Toyota used "Excitement, Adventure, Performance, and Utility" for its 2018 Tundra TRD Sport trim. It's pretty clear what message they are trying to send their buyers.

Grille. Toyota's truck is pretty straightforward. It sports a more pronounced black mesh grille matched with larger LED headlights.

Meanwhile, if you have noticed, Ford opted with horizontal bars across its grille. Now, this shortens the look on the vehicle but widens its appearance.

But Ford wanted a bolder, new look for its truck, making it more muscular. What other way to express masculinity than horizontal lines, right? Its headlights have been reshaped, with their ends reaching toward the center of the truck, reports AutoBlog.

Hood. By looking at it, there is no question that the hood scoop on the 2018 Tundra TRD Sport is tougher-looking, shouting it has more power under there. Ford opted for a slick, smoother finish, much like the ones you see on cars or SUVs.

Wheels. In a nutshell, the wheels on the 2018 Ford F-150 look dry, despite having six new wheel designs ranging in size from 17 to 22 inches. Wheels are supposed to express altitude and provide a bit of an edge with the trucks overall design. But Ford used silver styling, which might have been washed away in all the glossy finish.

The 2018 Tundra TRD Sport drives around with 20-inch alloy wheels with black accent finish. It radiates more character to it and keeps the overall look together.

Verdict.  The 2018 Ford F-150 provides engine alternatives based on the buyer's needs. But standard is the 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 mated with a 10-speed transmission, delivering improved acceleration and performance, according to Ford. On the other hand, 2018 Tundra TRD Sport is powered by the proven naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V-8, which provides 381 horsepower.

While both trucks look solid, the 2018 Ford F-150 has an overall refined look in person. The 2018 Tundra TRD Sport has "business as usual" look. But it will all boil down to you, the buyer, to decide which truck looks the part, best.
