2019 Ford Ranger Spotted: Set to Return Next Year and Looks Like A Compact 2018 F-150

The 2019 Ford Ranger is the American automaker's mid-size pickup truck. Previously discontinued in 2011, the pickup will debut sometime next year.

According to a report by Car Advice, the new Ford Ranger will re-debut to the North American market next year. It will come with new high-output engines and a body similar to the 2018 F-150. This comes after years of rumors and speculations about the Ranger's return to the United States. In January of this year, Ford finally confirmed the best-selling mid-size pickup truck's return!

When the pickup was first discontinued, the American automaker hoped that consumers would move up to the F-150. In addition, the mid-size pickup truck market seemed pretty dead at the time. However, with the introduction of the Chevrolet Colorado, the GMC Canyon, and the Honda Ridgeline, Ford knew it had to get back into the game!

According to Car and Driver, the upcoming pickup truck was recently spotted in action near the American automaker's Dearborn headquarters. It looked very similar to that of the Rangers sold overseas. This comes as no shock since most people were expecting the two to be closely related. The test body's twin-bar grille and taillights look very similar on the refreshed 2018 F-150. The finished product will likely show other styling similarities as well.

The new Ranger will likely have a turbocharged EcoBoost 2.3-liter inline-four-cylinder engine as the standard. The premium and sport models will likely have an EcoBoost 2.7-liter or 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Additionally, a diesel could make its way into the lineup, similar to what's coming for the 2018 F-150.

The 2019 Ford Ranger will debut next year and will be shortly followed by the 2020 Bronco. It will likely start at the $25,000 mark and could go above $40,000 for an off-road variant. What do you think about its return? Share your thoughts and comments below!
