FordPass App Develops With Better Mobility Services 10 Months After Launch

Ford Motor Company launched the FordPass app to enable their consumers to control their vehicles through their smartphones. Additionally, the company recently updated the application and expanded its mobility services. What are they?

The FordPass app has been around for 18 months and has been updated every 30 days since then. These updates include developed features instigated by Dearborn and Silicon Valley team, including the coverage of vehicles covered by the tech app. Initially, these vehicles include the Ford F-150, Ford Escape, and Ford Fusion models. Although some of the features were yet to be implemented, Auto News reported that even non-Ford users have downloaded the app which paved the way for the company to develop it further to expand potential revenue streams.

At present, Ford recognized that the application could be utilized by others, even those who do not own Ford models. Because of this, the company announced during the 2016 Detroit Auto Show press conference that they will innovate FordPass into a more revolutionary platform. When CEO Mark Fields confirmed that it had great potential, they revealed that they are currently working on similar apps and services from other OeMs to make it more applicable to other vehicles.

Moreover, Ford Motor Company associated with ParkWhiz to create a navigation system for the application that would tell users where they can find hassle-free parking spaces in cities. In fact, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, the FordPass Connect built-in modem and WiFi- hotspot capacity was also announced for the public, reported The Star. The partnership with Vodafone created the capacity of consumers to watch their favorite movies and listen to their music while traveling through improved 4G connectivity of the application. On top of which, the system also offers drivers with real-time updates and re-routes from congestion, apart from finding the best car spaces in town.

The FordPass app has been around for more than a year and the Ford owners have enjoyed the ease-of-use and mobility of their vehicles because of the tech features. In fact, the company saw great potential in the application that they are currently developing features that could also be offered to non-Ford drivers.
