The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is here and it is bigger. The new Traverse also sports a redesign that is more squared off than the outgoing model.

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The new Traverse now has a bigger grille which sports chrome accents and thinner headlights and taillights than the 2017 model. Its hood is more squared off, too. The Redlines models come with a black bow tie emblem and wheels.

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse looks much bigger and so much like a truck now but a lot lighter. The previous model's round edges are now square edges. Its wheelbase is 2 inches longer that the 2017 model and 8 inches longer than Acadia.

Inside this new full-size SUV is a near-absence of buttons and knobs. It instead features a display touchscreen that can either come in 7 inches or 8 inches, larger than the 6.5-inch touchscreen the 2017 model has.

The second-row seats no longer have the Smart Slide setup but instead, are replaced with split-folding ones. Its curbside seat can even tip up and slide forward even when a child seat is installed. This makes it easier to access the third row.

Headroom and legroom are impressively generous. Although cargo space may be smaller than the 2017 model, the 23 cubic feet is still bigger than the Honda Pilot's and Ford Explorer's at 16 cubic feet and 21 cubic feet respectively. Cargo space on new Traverse goes up to 99 cubic feet with the seats folded down.

Under the hood on most trims of the 2018 Traverse is a 3.6-liter V6 engine with a horsepower of 305 and 260 pound-feet of torque. Its tow rating is at 5000 pounds. All-wheel drive is optional. The RS Trim on the other hand, comes with only front-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine with only 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

Both the RS trim and all other trims with the V6 engine are mated to a new nine-speed automatic transaxle. It also has an engine stop/start system. The v6 engine has an EPA rating of 15 miles per gallon in city driving and 22 miles per gallon on the highway.
