Ferrari unveiled its latest vehicle last February 16 ahead of the Geneva Auto Show. The supercar is called the 812 Superfast which describes the vehicle's power and capabilities well enough.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast. The Italian car manufacturer has always been known to giving its vehicles ridiculous names such as the F12berlinetta and LaFerrari. The Italian car manufacturer has done so again with its latest supercar the 812 Superfast.
The company claims that the 812 Superfast is the most powerful production vehicle ever released. However, it is not the only car named the Superfast. It actually unveiled a vehicle called 500 Superfast 53 years ago at the Geneva Auto Show.
The 812 Superfast is considered as the successor to F12berlinetta with a design borrowed heavily from it. Unlike the F12berlinetta, however, it has full LED headlights, quad circular tail lights, a body-colored rear diffuser, and air vents on the bonnet. It sports a T-shaped rear and appears wider than the F12berlinetta from behind.
Under the hood is a 6.5-liter V12 engine which is able to churn out 800 horsepower at 8,500 revolutions per minute. Its torque is 530 pound-feet and is a rear-wheel drive vehicle that can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 3 seconds, 2.9 seconds to be exact. It can reach a top speed of 211 miles per hour.
The new Ferrari 812 Superfast is the company's first car with electronic power steering. It also features the latest version of Side Slip Control, which basically keeps the vehicle's power in check to avoid it from smashing itself. Pricing for the vehicle is still unavailable as of this writing.
Reports claim that the 812 Superfast will be its last vehicle to sport a naturally aspirated engine. The Italian car manufacturer will allegedly be shifting its focus to turbochargers and hybrid assists. The former is an expected aim given that most, if not all, global car manufacturers are looking into greener alternative versions of their products.
