Just a day after Burger King's official Twitter page was hacked, Jeep's verified account appeared to fall victim to one as well according to Yahoo.
Many noticeable changes were made to the account, like the description of the company which was changed to say it had been sold to Cadillac. The company's avatar photo was also switched to the Cadillac symbol and its feed contained a number of inappropriate posts.
Over 100,000 people follow Jeep on Twitter, and many of them took to the social media website to voice their outrage at the obviously fake messages.
As of 3 p.m. all of the messages had been removed and the company's avatar and description had been changed back.
Chrysler, which owns Jeep, has yet to comment on the hack as of yet. General Motors was asked on Twitter why they would allow such acts to take place, and the company claims to have nothing to do with the hack.
Burger King's account was also hacked into this week, when their description section suggested the company had been sold to McDonald's. Burger King suspended the account for multiple hours until they could regain control according to Mashable. The group @DFNTSC was responsible for hack.
Many companies decided to have fun at Jeep's expense, like MTV and BET, as they both claimed they'd hacked each other's Twitter page.
Denny's, the popular restaurant chain, tweeted a photo of a stack of pancakes on their account with the caption "waffles" in their own attempt at a fake hack.
"We hacked ourselves," said Denny's on their page. "because it's the cool thing to do!"
