The new AMD Vega GPU will officially launch in the second quarter of 2017. More details will be available during the GDC 2017 at the upcoming "Capsaicin and Cream" press event.

The Capsaicin & Cream event will be on Feb 28 and streamed live over the web. The event will feature an exclusive look at the upcoming Radeon 500 series graphics cards and possibly the AMD Ryzen CPU. Raja Koduri, the Radeon Technologies Group's Senior Vice President and Chief Architect, will be hosting the one-hour live event.

Racing Junky boldly reported that AMD Vega is better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. According to the website, the "full" Vega 10 card could have comparable or even better performance than the GTX 1080 Ti. However what sets it apart is its price.

The website adds that the full Vega card will sell for around $400-450. This will reportedly be half or even less than half the price of its Nvidia competitor GPU.

In another report, according to WCCFTech, the AMD Vega GPU was showcased during Ryzen's announcement press event. At the event, the company demonstrated a monster AMD system equipped with a $399 8-core 16-thread Ryzen 7 1700X CPU paired with an AMD Vega 10 graphics card. The system was running Star Wars Battlefront at an incredible 4K.

Members of the press who attended the event were allowed to play on the demo system. Additionally, they were even allowed to see what was inside the system and even go outside of the game to verify the specs. Additionally, the website added that an early engineering sample of Vega was already seen in action in the past. It was able to outperform the GTX 1080 by approximately 10% playing DOOM while running on Alpha 300 series Fury drivers.
