Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale Threatens Blacklisting Due To Leaks

Following the first streaming of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale last February 18th, leaks or unauthorized recording of contents from the movie surfaced the internet by storm. ODEX, the company who distributes the film from countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines, laid out plans regarding these illegal actions.

In a recent Facebook post from ODEX, the company announced the notice from Japan saying SAO movie leaks are unwantedly streamed ranging from seconds to 10 mins. The sources of these leaks are traced from countries like Singapore and Malaysia's Fan Screening last February 18th. As a consequence, these irresponsible actions drew flak from Japanese Licensors since this issue is a grave infringement of copyrights. Thus, the result of these measures could lead to blacklisting of future anime film release.

The company seeks help from all the Sword Art Online community to stay away or alert cinema management team regarding the illegal recording of the anime movie. Here is the message by ODEX to all their supporters;

"We received a notice from Japan that ]there are] SAO movie video leaks ranging from 10 secs to 8 mins, and the source was traced to Singapore & Malaysia's Fan Screening on 18 Feb 2017. Regardless of the reason or circumstances surrounding the [unauthorized] recording of the movie, this incident has serious repercussions on our local anime community.

The irresponsible actions of the minority who carried out the [unauthorized] recording drew flak from Japanese licensors because this is a serious infringement of copyright, resulting in the very likelihood of Singapore and Malaysia being blacklisted for future anime film release. While ODEX is doing its utmost to limit the damage suffered, we seek your help to alert the cinema management of any [unauthorized] photography or videography taking place during the screenings,"  via Crunchyroll.
