The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is the company's first SUV. It delivers a thrilling driving experience, outstanding performance, and sports style. The new model will give the company an offering in the ever-popular crossover SUV segment.
The car looks like a bulkier Giulia, with angular headlights and a triangular grille that's also similar to other Alfa Romero models. The side sports a strong shoulder line, and the back end echoes the Stelvio's sibling, the Maserati Levante.
The interior keeps the focus on the driver. The start button is located on the steering wheel, which has a flat bottom since it's the sporty "it" factor in many cars of today. The gauge cluster houses a 7-inch display nestled between the speedometer and tachometer.
In addition, two infotainment screens are offered, a standard 6.5-inch screen or an 8.8-inch widescreen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, regardless of screen size.
Named after the famous Italian pass that is known to be the best driving road, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio shares its platform with the Giulia. It utilizes aluminum for the brake calipers, doors, front shock towers, fenders, and front and back subframes. To save weight, some parts of the back cross member are molded from composites.
There will be three trim levels available; the basic Stelvio, the Ti, and the Quadrifoglio. For its powertrain, the base model and the Ti uses a direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an aluminum block and head. A twin-scroll turbocharger and an intercooler help the car to produce 280 hp at 5200 rpm and 360 lb-ft of torque from 2250 to 4500.
Meanwhile, the Quadrifoglio uses a twin-turbocharged aluminum 2.9-liter V-6 that comes with fenders from the Giulia Q-fog, making 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. The car can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph.
The standard Stelvio features a standard backup camera with rear parking sensors, a carbon fiber driveshaft, and 18-inch wheels. While the Stelvio Ti comes with 19-inch wheels, wood interior accents, and aforementioned 8.8-inch widescreen infotainment system. Adaptive suspension is also available on the Stelvio Ti.
The 2018 Alfa Romero Stelvio is packed with safety features. It includes some active and passive safety systems, adaptive cruise control with full stop capabilities, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and blind-spot monitoring.
