Canon Mirrorless EOS M6 is a replacement for the entry-level EOS M3 model. With this model, Canon is targeting people who want something with the same photo quality as a cheap digital single-lens reflex camera, to supplement their phone.
Canon Inc. is a Japanese multinational corporation specialized in the manufacture of imaging and optical products, including cameras, camcorders, photocopiers, steppers, computer printers and medical equipment. At the beginning of 2015, Cannon was the tenth largest public company in Japan when measured by market capitalization.
Engadget reported that the Mirrorless EOS M6 is a stripped down version of an M5. The camera comes without the built-in electronic viewfinder. All the other features are the same. It has 24.2-megapixel APS-C MOS sensor, Digic 7 processor, and 100-25, 600 ISO. It also has Bluetooth, NFC, and WiFi for sharing photos or to control the camera remotely via Canon’s Connect app for iOS and Android. The 3-inch LCD screen is now able to tilt. This should help you get better selfies of you and your friends. However, if the optional EVF is attached, tilting the LCD screen would not be possible.
According to Digital Photography Preview, the Canon Mirrorless EOS M6 is equipped with an additional top plate control dial that should improve handling. This is also an upgrade from the M3 model it’s replacing. Canon has also announced an optional EVF (EVF-DC2) that can be used with the M6. The 2.36M-dot EVF is smaller and lighter than the EVF-DC1 used by the M3. There will be two color options for the M6, black and silver.
The camera will go on sale in April 2017. It will cost $780 for body-only. With the EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM, it will cost $900, and with the EF-M 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM the price will jump to $1280. The EVF-DC2 is priced at $250 and it also comes in black and silver color variants.
