The 2017 Jeep Compass is designed to replace the older Compass and Patriot. The 2017 Compass fits between Jeep Renegade and Cherokee. It is intended to serve as a volume seller in many global markets for which the Cherokee is simply too large.
According to Car And Driver, the 2017 Jeep Compass comes with several different trim levels. The Trailhawk model starts at $26,690, Latitude model starts at $25,390, Limited model starts at $30,090 and the base Compass Sport model starts at $22,090. All of the models are equipped with a great interior design and high-quality materials.
The multimedia system is composed of three Uconnect touchscreen units that measure 5.0, 7.0 and 8.4 inches. The 8.4-inch one responds quickly and it is easy to use. There are a handful of hard buttons located near the HVAC controls that can be used for basic multimedia commands. All Compasses come with 2.4-liter-infinte-four engine that produces 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The six-speed manual gearbox is standard on the Sport and the all-wheel-drive Latitude.
Jeep offers two automatic transmissions: six-speed with front-wheel drive, and a nine-speed with all-wheel drive. Trailhawk and Limited are both equipped with nine-speed all-wheel drive automatic transmission by default. The 2017 Jeep Compass needs 8.8 seconds to go from 0-60mph.
According to Motortrend, Compass Trailhawk model has various off-road settings and modes that are all controlled by a rotary knob and three buttons located just forward of the gear shift. The buttons are for 4WD Lock, 4WD Low, and hill-descent control. The knob controls the 5 Selec-Terrain settings: Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud and Rock. Rock terrain mode is Trailhawk exclusive.
Fuel economy is another feature where 2017 Jeep Compass shines. The all-wheel drive automatic models are netting an EPA estimated 22mpg in the city, 30mpg on the highway, and 25mpg combined. The second-generation Compass combines mature looks, nimble handling, and comfortable accommodations.
