The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will launch later this year. It will come after the new S8 and is expected to be the most important gadget of the year for the Korean tech company.
New Name and New Look. The Samsung Note 8 reportedly has an external codename of "Baikal." This led many to believe that the new phablet may change its name for this year. However, the only confirmation about this came from the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. On the other hand, Samsung said earlier this year that they will continue with the Note series since there are still loyal fans.
However, it is more likely that the smartphone will be all new instead. According to NSEAVoice, the new Note 8 may be ditching its physical home button permanently. Apparently, Samsung would like to change the device's overall look.
The name change and new look speculation are due to the Note 7 incident. Last year, the Korean smartphone manufacturer spent billions when they had to recall all of their 7th generation phablets due to the battery explosion that affected a small percentage of the Note 7's sold.
New Features. According to Droid Report, the new Samsung Note 8 will have a lot of great features. The website reported that the Seoul-based tech giant would likely give the new and improved phablet a 4K curved infinity display and a 256 GB variant. All in all, it will probably be event better than the Apple iPhone 8.
Additionally, the website continues and believes that the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 may have a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6 GB of RAM, dual-lens camera, and a better battery life. It could also have an iris scanner, an IP68 certification, and a new S-Pen with speakers. The screen may be 6.2 to 6.4 inches.
In addition, there could even be 2 Note 8 models for this year. Reports suggest that two new models will launch similar to the Galaxy S7. One phablet will feature a dual-edged curved display while the other Note 8 will feature a regular display.
