A woman found a great horned owl stuck inside the front grill of her SUV last week according to ABC News.
The owl reportedly got stuck after Sonji Coney Williams accidentally ran it over on Feb. 7 driving down the Florida Turnpike at approximately 60 mph.
"I've never experienced anything like this before in my life," Williams said according to ABC News.
Williams knew she hit an owl, but assumed the bird had bounced into nearby bushes. She kept on driving south to Plantation, F.L. to visit her son.
"I was driving about 60 miles an hour, he never moved, and so, I said 'Oh, my God, I hit a bird,' and I felt so bad but it was very dark and we didn't pull over," Williams told KXAN.
The next day when heading out to run some errands, 60 miles away from where she hit the owl, a family noticed something with bright yellow eyes in the grille of her car.
"There was a family that pulled in front of my parking space and flagged me down and said, 'Don't move, don't move, you have something in the grill of your truck. I said, 'Yes, what is it?' And they said, 'It's an owl.' And I said, 'An owl?'" said Williams according to ABC News.
Williams felt so bad about hitting the owl she reportedly had a hard time even looking at it, even shedding a few tears for the poor bird.
The woman remained calm, and called Florida Fish and Wildlife Department. Shortly after, an officer arrived, opened the hood, and freed the bird.
The great horned owl is reportedly common in Central Florida according to a report by ABC News.
"Officers say the owl appeared to be in good shape and didn't suffer any injuries," according to a report by ABC News.
