3 Killed In Reality Show Helicopter Crash While Filming In Los Angeles For The Discovery Channel (VIDEO)

Three people were killed on Feb. 10 after a helicopter crash in a rural area of northern Los Angeles County while filming for a new reality TV show for the Discovery Channel according to the Associated Press.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. at Polsa Rosa Ranch in the city of Action, Los Angeles County, according to Fire dispatcher Robert Diaz.

All three people aboard the copter died according to Diaz. The names and ages of the individuals have yet to be released. The unidentified men that were killed were most likely in their 40s and had been tossed out of the Bell 206 helicopter as it crashed according to Examiner.com.

"A production company was shooting a show for Discovery Channel when this tragic accident occurred," said Laurie Goldberg, a Discovery Channel spokeswoman in a statement. "We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families."

The show had yet to be aired or announce by Discovery Channel, and was listed on a filming permit as an untitled military-theme television program according to Goldberg.

Eyeworks USA, the show's production company, who is known for creating NBC's "The Biggest Loser," expressed their sympathies to the victim's families and stated they would be operating with authorities to figure out what caused the crash exactly.

The Crossbow Helicopters that crashed received approval to participate in filming from the Federal Aviation Administration according to the Associated Press.

"We wouldn't have referenced helicopter activity if we didn't already have pre-approval from the FAA," Sokoloski said.

The ranch was used in "Windtalkers" and last year's remake of "Red Dawn," according to IMDB. The crash also occurred only 25 miles away from Santa Clarita where actor Vic Morrow and two children were killed in a helicopter crash while filming for the "Twilight Zone" movie in 1982 according to the Associated Press.
