Bandai Namco has recently released a new trailer for the upcoming racing simulator "Project CARS 2." The upcoming game will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC platforms.
The game is the sequel to the "Project CARS" simulator which was developed by Slightly Mad Studios and released in May 2015. The game was praised for its realistic depiction of the racing simulator genre of video games.
The PC version of "Project CARS 2" will have full VR support and can be configured to support up to 12K resolution. The game is said to feature a new dynamic weather system. Compared to the first game's fleet of 73 cars to drive, the new game is said to have a sizeable roster of 170 new cars, according to IGN. It is rumored that the game will feature signature cars from notable car makers like Lamborghini, Porsche, and Ferrari.
In terms of the number of courses, it is reported that "Project CARS 2" will have 60 new tracks. If this is true, the game will feature the biggest selection of tracks than any console racing game ever had.
"Project Cars 2" will feature LiveTrack 3.0, a technology Slightly Mad Studios used in order to present realistic weather effects down to the microscopic level. This creates a feeling of variation as tracks change according to seasons. This means that racing in a particular track during winter will require a different approach when racing on it during spring.
"Project CARS 2" creative director Andy Tudor told WIRED, "Everything is purely for gameplay reasons. It's strategy, it's tactics. That's why we do it."
There is no definitive release date yet for "Project CARS 2," although the game is expected to hit the shelves later this year. Once released, the game will rival other popular racing simulation games like "Forza" and "Gran Turismo."
