Chrysler has unveiled the new Chrysler Pacifica at the Chicago Auto Show. It looks to be the ultimate family car especially for those with members with mobility impairments.
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The Pacifica is a luxury minivan considered one of many of the top of the line vehicles that makes a good family car. Chrysler, together with Braunability, has just made it even better.
A minivan is always the best choice for a wheelchair user or someone who has an immediate family member who uses one, who is looking to buy a car. Other vehicles such as smaller vans or SUVs just do not compare to the accessibility a minivan offers.
Pacifica has teamed up with BraunAbility to produce the 2017 BraunAbility Pacifica Chrysler which features patent-pending AccessAbility technology. It sports an aerospace-inspired extended sliding door, and the widest side-entry ramp on a car anyone has ever seen. Maneuverability is not compromised inside the new Pacifica with its cantilevered seat bases that allow for an expanded interior space for all types and sizes of wheelchairs. To ensure quality, BraunAbility gets its components and parts from the same suppliers as Chrysler.
BraunAbility has long been fitting vehicles with wheelchair-accessible technology. It was founded by wheelchair user Ralph Braun who made the first known hydraulic wheelchair lift and had it installed in the full-size 1972 Dodge B-Series Ram Van. The installation made the van the first wheelchair-accessible in the world.
The wheelchair lift manufacturer eventually moved on to converting popular 1980s and 1990s vans into handicapped equipped versions. They were the first to work on the Dodge Caravan which is considered to have inspired the modern minivan.
The company is also able to convert other vehicle brands and models such as the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna. Chrysler currently offers a US$1,000 credit to anyone looking to buy the new 2017 BraunAbility Chrysler Pacifica.
