Rolls-Royce Announces Record Sales, Over 3,570 Cars Sold (VIDEO)

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars revealed today that they sold 3,575 cars globally during 2012. The total broke last year's sales number and was the best in the company's 108-year-history according to Reuters.

"My aim at the outset of 2012 was another record. I am delighted to announce our sales for 2012 and to celebrate our 10th anniversary with an historic record result," said Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in a company press release.

The record was achieved despite a great deal of challenges Rolls-Royce experienced in 2012. Of those challenges, the preparations for the company's Phantom Series II and expansion of Rolls-Royce facilities in West Sussex, UK.

The expansion was planned to increase customer demands for a number of different models like Phantom, Phantom Extended Wheelbase, and their line of Ghost vehicles. The Phantom II was released in March at the Geneva Motor Show and has since received critical acclaim and strong feedback from customers all-around the world.

Over thirty new dealerships opened around the world, as the company expanded into new locations like Latin America according to the press release. Rolls-Royce vehicles were sold in a total of 40 countries.

"It shows the commitment of dealers, that those entrepreneurs were investing potential money in dealerships," Muller-Otvos said. "They obviously think Rolls-Royce has a bright future otherwise they would never do that."

Sales increased in many regions, most notably in the Middle East where sales rose 26 percent, and in Mainland Europe where sales increased 21 percent. Sales in Germany increased by 15 percent as well.

The company didn't fair particularly well in China, but business had picked up towards the end of the year. Muller-Otvos has high hopes for the company's success in China during 2013.

"We had an outstanding year in spite of the challenges we faced, and Rolls-Royce now leads the ultra luxury market by some considerable margin," said Muller-Otvos in the press release. "I applaud the Rolls-Royce workforce for their passion and commitment to this Great British brand and we can look forward to future success."
