New Year’s Eve Shooting During Fireworks Leaves 2 Dead In California (VIDEO)

California police have confirmed that a shooting took place during a New Year's Eve fireworks show in Sacramento, CA where at least two people were killed and three others seriously wounded.

Over 40,000 guests were on hand to watch the 9 p.m. fireworks show according to CNN. Witnesses heard shots and immediately started running for cover.

"I saw the gun in the hand. He was just screaming and shooting," said a witness to CNN.

Police have not made any arrests yet, and have been talking with witnesses to see if they can try to narrow down their list of suspects.

Due to the shooting, police decided to cancel the planned fireworks display, which were a part of New York's New Year's Eve party according to the Associated Press. A helicopter flew over the venue to announce the decision to cancel the fireworks.

Police officers have not been able to come to a conclusion as to why the gunman started shooting in the first place. Investigators will now have to work hard trying to figure out the motivation behind the New Year's Eve tragedy.
