iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Update: Unlock For iPhone 4S, 5 Coming In 6 Months, No Solution Before 2013, New Scam Site Reported?

As the end of 2012 approaches, hackers have still not been able to develop an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5. At one point in November it seemed a solution was a mere days away after Chronic Dev team members were able to partially jailbreak an iPhone 5, but since then users have had to deal with at least a dozen different scam sites tying to capitalize on desperate people.

Chronic Dev team member Joshua Hill recently wrote that the current iOS 6 is the toughest and most difficult OS that he has ever come across. While he has still not said he's officially moved on, a close associate said that he has started working on better problems that he may actually be able to solve, compared to one that no one may ever be able to.

Well now a new site has been reported this week by State Journal that advertises an untethered jailbreak for Apple products like the iPhone 4 and 4S. For a $28 fee, you can download the application to finally free your phone according to openanyphone.com.

The site also claims that the unlock is the "safest, most reliable, and easiest" unlock software available. Testers have yet to try the latest unlock option, but if it's anything like the previous Dream JB hoax, users should hang tight until a more reliable application has been developed.

If you decide to try the system anyway consider yourself warned. You won't be able to bring your phone to your cell phone provider for help if anything goes wrong. The second you attempt to jailbreak your phone, your warranty is essentially gone.

This problem can be very difficult to deal with especially if you just purchased the phone or it was a gift you received for say Christmas or Hanukkah. Most iPhone's require a contractual agreement of at least two years, so when you purchase the phone you're making a commitment to it.

In a recent interview with The International Business Times, jailbreak expert and hacker that goes by the Twitter handle Pod2g stated that he believes it will probably take at least another six months before a safe jailbreak is revealed for iPhone 4s and 5 users. He does think however that Apple is only going to make it harder for developers to break into future systems like the one that will be used for the up-coming iPhone 5S.

"My message to Apple is the following: why not stop the fight and let users install unsigned applications, just like it is possible on OS X," said Pod2g according to The International Business Times. "It could be done the right way to let people install tweaks while making sure piracy is limited. I am convinced that it would allow iOS to gain market shares over Android."
