The popular messaging app WhatsApp recently rolled out an update, v2.17.1, for iOS users. What's exciting about this update is that users can now send messages offline, sort of. The update also comes with a host of new improvements for the messaging platform, which users may find useful.

The Facebook-owned messaging app now allows iPhone, iPad, and iTouch users to send messages even without an Internet connection. WhatsApp v2.17.1 allows users to tick "send" despite having no connection.

The messages will be on "queue" and will automatically be sent once an Internet connection has been established. There is no limit as to how many messages each user puts on queue during offline mode. This means that users can now fully prep their side of the conversation while waiting for the connection to come back.

Business Insider UK reported that this feature has been already available for Android users since June 2016. The "send" button has been disabled for iOS devices prior to the update. A number of users are annoyed when they are mid-sending their message on WhatsApp and the connection is lost. They had to go back and send the message as soon as the connection is restored.

Other improvements that came along the WhatsApp v2.17.1 update is a redesigned storage use screen. According to MacRumors, users can now manage their storage space by clearing message types like images or videos from specific chat threads. Simply go to Settings -> Data and Storage Usage -> Storage Usage and tapping "Clear Chat."

File-sharing has also been improved in WhatsApp v2.17.1 update. You can now send as many as 30 photos or videos in one go, compared with the previous limit of 10.

WhatsApps is reportedly working on another feature to add to its growing list of upgrades and improvements. Among the items that the Facebook-owned company is working on is the "unsend" button. This would highly be useful, especially for users who are fond of drunk texting.
