Fiat 500 Abarth ‘Seduction’ Commercial Wins ‘Best TV’ Spot At 2012 D Show (SEE COMMERCIAL)

The Fiat 500 Abarth "Seduction" television commercial was named "Best TV Commercial" at the 2012 D Show held last week on Nov. 28. Chrysler announced the news today in a press release on their company website.

"It is great to see a video that was created on a shoestring budget and not intended to be shown on television, receive prestigious accolades like the D Show 'Best TV Commercial' honor," said Olivier Francois, Head of FIAT Brand Worldwide and Chrysler Group LLC and Fiat Group Automobiles Chief Marketing Officer in a press release.

The D Show is a yearly event held in Detroit, MI by the Adcraft Club of Detroit to award the year's best Detroit advertisements. Awards are determined by out-of-state judges within the advertising industry according to the press release.

The "Seduction" advertisement was first introduced at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show with hundreds on journalists in attendance. The commercial was then posted on Fiat's YouTube page for the world to see without even premiering on television yet.

The company paid a ridiculous sum of money to air the commercial for the first time on television during the 2012 Super Bowl this past February. Around 111.3 million people watched the Super Bowl this year, and almost half of that number watched just for the commercials. The "Seduction" spot was favorably reviewed and was listed on a number of different sites like Yahoo as one of the best Super Bowl commercials to air this past year as well.

"'Seduction' started out as a video supporting a speech and then went viral on the web," said Francois in the release. "Our dealers saw it, loved it and wanted to see it on television. This is a success story of how an auto show video became a Super Bowl commercial hit and continues to grow a fan base and win awards."

Chrysler also won two other awards at the 2012 D Show. The company won the "Integrated Branding Campaign" award for their Ram Truck "Code of the West" advertisement that they released this past year. They also won the "Innovative Media" award for Fiat's "Aurasma" commercial.
