The 2018 Ford Mustang convertible was finally unveiled just last Friday at the Detroit Auto Show. This new Mustang car will also be introduced in 50 regional auto shows in the U.S. before it is offered for sale in September.

Auto Week reports that compared with 2018 Ford Mustang Coupe which was uncovered earlier, the most notable difference between the models is the folding soft top. Just like the Coupe, the 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible has also been fitted with high-tech driver-assist systems.  

Both models have the same Magneride suspension and the 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible comes in three different colors and 12 wheel options.

The external look of the 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible confirms an earlier report by Forbes that the new design has returned to the traditional Mustang-like fastback appearance.  The design used for the Mustang in the past three years has made the face of the car look more like the Ford Fusion.

The new 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible has sharper lines and a bolder face. The grill edge has been adjusted to match with the bumper and the edge of the hood has been lowered by 20 millimeters just like the Shelby GT350.  

The compressed upper grill is lined up to blend with the curved corners making the car looks like it is leaning forward in attack mode. The lower face makes way to the triangular pockets for the horizontal fog lamps.

Unlike the past Mustang models, the headlamps are slimmer and have been angled downward at the outer curves and no longer angled upward towards the wheels arch. The 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible has been fitted completely with LED lights including the new tri-bar signature lights.  

The high-tech systems fitted into the new Mustang convertible includes pre-collision and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist systems.  Owners can use the FordPass phone app to open, lock or and locate the car. The high-tech 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible will be offered for sale in the last quarter of 2017.
