The Jeep Grand Cherokee is probably the best mid-size SUV when it comes to off-road driving. Unfortunately, none of the 10 different 2016 Grand Cherokee models lived up to that reputation. The 2017 Grand Cherokee aims to bring back the glory.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. The first Trailhawk version of the Grand Cherokee came out in 2013 and it boasted of generous levels of comfort, sophisticated off-road elements, and a simple yet stylish design. The 2013 model was also reasonably priced which added to its appeal.
The 2017 Grand Cherokee beats the previous model when living up to the Trailhawk name. The new Grand Cherokee is a well-capable off-roader that is a product of Jeep's vast knowledge of what an off-road vehicle should be.
The new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk sports the Quadra-Drive II four-wheel-drive system. It is paired with a two-speed transfer case and Selec-Terrain dial knob. Its standard air-springs can rise up to 10.8 inches from the ground and is capable of lowering the vehicle for easy entering and exiting. It features a complete range of skid plates, a nifty off-road app, hill-descent and hill-ascent controls, and a limited-slip rear differential that is electronically controlled.
Under the hood is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that can provide up to 295 horsepower and 260 pound-foot of torque. Shifting is done by an eight-speed automatic transmission. One can also opt for the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine or the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. The off-trail and on, the new Grand Cherokee handling is quite remarkable, traversing steep slopes and sand-covered hillsides with ease and comfort.
There isn't any chrome on the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk's headlamps, mirrors, roof rails, bumpers, badges, and grille. It instead has argent gray and black accents, two red tow hooks, hood decals in matte black. This Trailhawk sports Kevlar-reinforced 265/60R-18 Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure tires on an aluminum wheel with matte black inserts. Altogether, the new Trailhawk has a rugged kind of handsome to it and may as well be considered as the ultimate off-roader.
The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee starts at the reasonable retail price of US$43,990. However, one can always get more features and add-ons if the wallet permits.
