The Porsche 918 Spyder has been considered as one of the fastest cars ever built in the automobile industry. Despite its impressive specs, the model was said to be challenged by a newcomer in the industry - the Tesla Model S. Is it the fastest modified street car to date?
The Specs. Generally, the Tesla Model S was not built for racing. However, the vehicle was modified that 1,100lb of curb weight was decreased, increased its capacity to 778hp and was able to generate 734 lb.-ft. of torque, reported Motor Authority.
With respect to the model's speed, it was able to reach almost half a second behind the famous Porsche 918 Spyder. Per testing, the vehicle was able to reach a flat two seconds and was determined to have impressive acceleration speed with respect to the 0-60 caliber. Being an electric model, the top speed was unexpected as these types of cars do not usually have large engines which could inspire greater performance capacities.
The Competitions. These developments were said to be the same updates to be installed to the Tesla Model S by the time it enters the Electric GT Championship series. As reported by Jalopnik, all of the race cars in the event would share the same features. In fact, the model will make its debut at the Autosport International Show in England this coming Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017.
With the current developments to the Tesla Model S vehicle, such specs may still be improved awaiting the launch of the Electric GT Championship to be held in Ibiza this coming Sept. 24, 2017. Furthermore, this may be the brand's one-way ticket to survive seven rounds of the series whose timeframe would be good for an entire day. Until then, the vehicle would be featured in the upcoming Autosport International Show this coming Jan.19, 2017, in England.
