The iPhone 5 is approaching its two-month anniversary, and despite the fact that experts have already had almost two months to provide users with a jailbreak for the device, no one has been able to successfully do so to the annoyance of many users.
According to most reports however, a jailbreak is still expected for iPhone 5 devices and could happen as early as sometime this week. The Chronic Dev team came close last week to a complete jailbreak on the newest Apple smartphone, but they were unsuccessful in completing the process.
The partial jailbreak was seen as a step in the right direction however, as no one else has been able to get that far before last week.
"I would characterize it more as finding the missing pieces rather than debugging at this stage," said a member of the Chronic Dev team last week. "Typically the messiest part of the jailbreak process has been installing it in the first place."

Experts have tried warning people the status of the jailbreak as often as possible to prevent users from downloading untrustworthy software. People have been getting a little too impatient however, as multiple websites have reported fake jailbreaking sites have been stealing money from hundreds of desperate users the past couple of weeks.
The sites are designed to seem like they can provide users with a safe and easy download process all for a minimal fee. After a user pays the fee however, there is no next step and the user is left with nothing but shame and disappointment.
As reported by the Dev team, JHerthop.com reportedly wanted $500 for his jailbreak and loaded fake screen shots to try convincing people to shell out their hard earned cash. He claimed the jailbreak not only works on the iPhone 5 but the iPod Touch 5G as well. Turns out the user was just very skilled a photo shop and has been blasted on Twitter and reported for fraud.
New scam websites have also been reported since Friday by International Digital Times as well as they have added two more sites to there scam list. The two go by the names DreamBoard and iDreamBoard. Both sites advertise jailbreak for just .99, but testers have determined the sites are a complete rip off.
The Dev team has urged users on their site and on Twitter to remain patient during the process and wait for a legit and safe jailbreak instead of downloading one that either just steals your money or gives your phone or device a virus.
