Apple announced this week that they plan on launching the iPhone 5 in China before the end of 2012. China Telecom Chairman Wang Xiaochu stated in a brief interview with the Wall Street Journal on Friday that the company is hoping to launch the Apple device by late December or possibly even sooner.
The device has already received regulatory approval to launch the iPhone 5 in the country, China Unicon didn't seem too sure that they would be able to get the phone out before the end of the year.
Either way, it's no longer a matter of if China will be able to get the newest form of the iPhone but when the country will be able to use it. A deal with China mobile remains unsettled as of today, but Apple is confident they will be able to work something out by the end of 2012, possibly by the end of the month.
The deal will reportedly "double" the iPhone's current market in China and will boost the overall sales numbers for the phone possibly before the end of the fiscal year. The company predicts that sales could increase by over 50 percent and stock value could see a 60 percent increase according to Forbes.
The iPhone 5 is the closest competitor to the Galaxy S III with a 4 inch screen, A6 processor and completely rebuilt design compared to the iPhone 4S. The company has advertised its Siri app consistently before and since releasing the phone as a voice assistant to help customers with many things like directions, finding a local business or any random question that comes to mind.
China is the world's largest smart phone market by a considerable amount, so the chance to sell the most profitable phone in the world there would be a huge blow to companies like Nokia and Samsung who have both released phones recently to compete with Apple.
The Nokia Lumia 920 was released this past Friday and has received solid sales numbers so far. With a price of $99.99 and 4G top speed the phone also comes with a 4.5 HD screen that is scratch proof and sun resistant.
The 920 comes equipped with a 8.7 megapixel LED flash PureView camera that includes wide-angle optics and a 2000mAh battery.
The Galaxy S3 has a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and is designed for those who wish to run more than one app at a time. The phone comes with a 4.8 inch HD display system and with a 8 megapixel camera the phone takes better pictures than any previous Galaxy model and has an estimated battery life of around 12 hours.
The company has also premiered the new Sky+ app this week which reportedly turns your phone into a DVR remote according to Slashgear. The updated app, which was previously released on the Apple tablet earlier this year, can give users control over their TV and recorded shows without having to use their regular television controller.
You can use the app to rewind, fast forward, lower or raise the volume of the program or program your DVR from the phone while you are out of your house.
The Sky+ app will also be available for the Samsung phone within the next couple of months according to Samsung.
