In her second attempt to win a Senate seat for Connecticut, Republican candidate Linda McMahon lost again Tuesday night. The former WWE tycoon spent over $100 million of her own money in two attempts at a seat in just the past three years.

"Thank you all so very, very much. I love each and every one of you," an upset McMahon said to her supporters, at the Hilton in Stamford, CT.

Democratic candidate Chris Murphy beat McMahon by a vote of 55 percent to 43.3 percent according to NBC News. Murphy spent $44 million on his campaign for a Senate seat in 2012.

McMahon now holds the dubious honor of spending the most personal money an American has ever spent trying to win an election and has nothing to show for it.

It is hard to see McMahon spending more money trying to win for a third time, even though she could easily afford it. She is worth a reported $232 million according to The New York Times after she helped her husband Vince McMahon build the powerhouse wrestling company known as WWE.

McMahon was the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment from 1997 until 2009 before quitting to have a career in politics. She had previously served as the President of the company from 1993 until 2000 according to Sports Illustrated.

While it is not much of a surprise that she lost on Tuesday considering Connecticut is largely a Democratic state, considering all the money she spent trying to buy a way into Senate it has to be a crushing feeling for her, and her 200 campaign workers.

People are now eager to see how her husband Vince will react to the news considering he changed his entire company in an effort to help her win.

In order to prevent Murphy from having controversial debate material, Vince changed WWE programming to have a PG rating by eliminated cursing, a great deal of the sexual content displayed, and toned down the violence to the disappointment of most fans. Ratings have been dismal since the change.

The state has 767,693 registered Democrats to 430,439 Republicans and 872,243 unaffiliated voters according to The New Haven Register.
