The Detroit Motor Show 2017 will be the launch pad of the Infiniti QX50 concept SUV, which will feature a driver-assist technology. The QX50 is scheduled for a January 7 preview where the car's innovative features will be unveiled. Some of them include luxury interiors, powertrain options, and an autonomous system.

The Infiniti QX50 is a next-generation mid-size premium SUV based on the QX Sport Inspiration concept car, which was at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. According to Yahoo Tech, QX50 should be considered as a traditional SUV. Its exteriors include a massive grille, a tall hood and roofline, and short overhangs.

A driver-assist technology is the main highlight of the Infiniti QX50 concept. According to the Japanese automaker, this feature will serve the driver as a co-pilot. The driver-assist technology can navigate stop-start traffic and can calculate the positions of nearby vehicles.

The QX50's autonomous drive support system retains the driver's control over the vehicle, says Infiniti. The carmaker remains focused on driver engagement, with safety also prioritized. This driver-centric philosophy is the design mantra of Infiniti.

Under the hood, the Infiniti QX50 could be the first to receive VC-Turbo engine. Launched at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, the engine offers optimized performance and efficiency. Infiniti will start manufacturing the VC-T in 2018, making the QX50 as a probable first recipient.

The VC-T engine can shift to a compression ratio of 14:1 from 8:1. Infiniti wants the QX50 to produce 268 horsepower and 287 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the V6 gasoline engine, the VC-T can deliver a fuel efficiency improvement of 27 percent.

Infiniti will hold a press conference on January 9 during the Detroit Auto Show. More details on the QX50 concept will be unveiled at that event.
