After the Hyundai Elantra was named the 2012 North American Car of the Year, the anticipation and expectations were high for the 2013 Elantra GT. From the looks of things so far, Hyundai didn't disappoint.

The brand new vehicle offers more space, state-of-the-art features that boost performance. The handling performance and safety features have improved as well for the 2013 series.  

The Elantra GT has a 1.8L, 4-cylinder engine with six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission and a front-wheel drive.  The company estimates that either transmission will achieve 28 city mpg and 39 on the highway in EPA tests according to the Hyundai website.

The car is over 150 pounds lighter than the Mazda 3, the car's top competitor, and Hyundai has gone through great lengths to focus on that point when showcasing the vehicle at auto shows. Being lighter is an important factor in regards to handling the vehicle and fuel efficiency alike.

The driver selectable steering option is a ground-breaking feature that lets a driver control and customize the feel of the steering from the instrument panel. The feature is located located on the steering wheel according to Hyundai and composes of three options available, including: Normal, Comfort, and Sport.
