2017 Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet
The Mercedes AMG is known for its ample strength and sophisticated electronics which can leap from 60 mph in 3.7 seconds thanks to its 577 horsepower. But the downside to this convertibles' complicated system of Attention Assist is the car does not seem to want or need the driver.
A planetary gearbox with multiple start-up clutches replaces the conventional torque converter. During acceleration, the clutch is slow causing a jerking and bucking motion during stop-and-go traffic. Although the steering is smooth as silk, it lacks tactility. AMG is equipped with an instrument panel made of two big flat-panel display, but it is set too high and obscured by the small-diameter steering wheel.
The rest of its interior, however, there is much to love. Expensive Bengal-red-and-black leather which costs $3250 encases the whole cabin while the remaining gaps are covered by Carbon-fiber and black-lacquer-wood trim.
The verdict? 2017 Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible wins hands down, according to Car and Driver. With endless enhancements and upgrades, however, there will be a rematch soon.
