Empire Season 3: Fox Hit TV Show Returns With A Bang

After being off for three breaks, Empire is back on TV! Its first episode for the third season was aired on Wednesday, Nov. 9 on Fox. According to Joshua Allen, co-producer and the episode writers, " We knew we wanted to come back with a really dramatic opening."

It's come back episode on Wednesday created a bang on the viewers when the episode began with Shine (Xzibit) kicking into attack mode after Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Andre (Trai Byers) had beaten him to a bloody pulp in the episode prior. Luckily, no one died in the hands on Shine.

It was a thrilling and suspense come back episode, and writer Joshua Allen meant what he said to The Hollywood Reporter (THR) that, "When it came time to actually write the opening sequence, it almost wrote itself because we knew we wanted to make it as tense as possible and really get the suspense going to really make people excited for this next batch of episodes."

Joshua Allen was further asked by The Hollywood Reporter about the apparent alliance between Shine and Tariq going forward, and he said: "It's an uneasy alliance so it's one to watch because even though they are working together against a common enemy, of course, it wouldn't be juicy if each one of them weren't working his or her own angle. So that's something to watch as that alliance moves forward, how these two characters work within the alliance when it benefits them but then also making their own side moves as well."

And as to whether or not Shine will eventually form an alliance with Anika moving forward, Allen reveals they are simply "slow-burning" the story as Anika tries to return to the music world to try and "carve out her place into this whole new world order."

Empires 2016 is shown every Wednesday 9:00 /  8:00 c on Fox.
