Karl Lagerfeld: Pippa Middleton Has Good Rear, Bad Face

Pippa Middleton only looks good from behind.

So says designer Karl Lagerfeld, who praised the looks and fashion sense of Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton - aka the Duchess of Cambridge - but issued a harsh judgment of her younger sister.

Pippa, now 28, gained a global legion of fans on April 29, 2011 when she served as maid-of-honor at the royal wedding wearing a form-fitting white dress.

Her striking brunette looks and statuesque figure earned her the nickname "Her Royal Hotness" and launched a famous Facebook page dedicated not so much to her, as to her posterior. Her travels, social life, and romances have been closely followed ever since.

Lagerfeld, however, is not an admirer.

According to Britain's Sun, the German designer, 78, started by praising Kate.

"Kate Middleton has a nice silhouette and she is the right girl for that boy," he said, adding. "I like that kind of woman, I like romantic beauties."

So far, so good, but then he shifted focus.

"On the other hand, her sister struggles," the paper quoted him as saying. "I don't like the sister's face. She should only show her back."

Lagerfeld, famous for his own label and as head of Chanel and Fendi, has already sparked backlash this year by criticizing a female celebrity's appearance.

In February, he called the British singer Adele "a little too fat". This sparked a media outcry, and Lagerfeld quickly issued an apology.

Lesson not learned, apparently. It remains to be seen if his remarks about Pippa Middleton will spark similar fury, and if he will condescend to apologize once again. The Middleton sisters seem close, and it seems a safe bet that we won't see Lagerfeld's designs on the Duchess of Cambridge any time soon.
