Hyundai recently announced a recall of it 2007-2008 Azeras. The company will fix the defective seat switch which causes the seats to move forward or upward or up and down randomly. 

According to CarScoops, the dangerous defect was said to be a result of a production error on the suppliers part, Duck II Industries from South Korea. It could be due to microswitch within the power seat on the driver's side, which may have been exposed to the environment, thus causing the involuntary movement of the driver's seat. 

This defect could lead to fatal accidents. Imagine someone driving the car when and the seat suddenly moves, it would be hard to take control of the car when you're taken by surprise. Even a slight movement can distract the driver, which increases chances of road accidents. 

Hyundai has already reported  the problem to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall affects 9,700 units of the vehicle, produced between March 7, and August 14, 2007. 

The NHTSA puts in the description of the cause:

"It is believed production variances during manufacturing of the switch resulted in environmental exposure to the microswitch and the symptoms observed in the fields."

Hyundai will begin mailing notices to '07-'08 Azera owners today. Owners can take their Azeras to their local dealerships and have the seats replaced at no charge. If repair ahs already been done, the repair receipt can be used for reimbursement. 

Hyundai also announced a recall on its 41,000 SUVs earlier this month. The recall was due to a defective software which causes the engine to suddenly stop. As what we can observe with this latest recall, Hyundai also made a swift move to fix the error and ensure the safety of its SUV owners.
