5 Key 2017 Honda Civic Updates We'd All Love To See

The Honda Civic is by far the most important Honda car in the world. We're talking about a product with more than 40 years of history and years of reign in the market. This is why the car company made sure that the 2017 Honda Civic poses a qualitative leap, a real revolution, that would rival other leaders in the segment such as the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus.

We assure you the new Civic is a must buy. These are the 5 key updates of the Civic to look out for.

Larger, Wider, Lower

The new Honda Civic is longer, wider and lowered. These are the recipes for success for a car to win integers, aesthetically, and interior space, without sacrificing other aspects such as aerodynamics. Honda has chosen to make the 2017 Honda Civic grow in every way, starting with its dimension. With 4.497 meters - technically four and a half meters - in length, the new Honda Civic has grown 10 centimeters over its predecessor while its width is 2 centimeters wider.

The suspension of this new Honda Civic are also brand new, making it significantly lower. The center of gravity has been lowered by 10 millimeters, the anchors of the suspensions have been revised and the fuel tank has been installed at the base, much lower than the old Honda Civic.

Modern Look

The 2017 Honda Civic's aesthetics is also much more aggressive and modern. One would want to ride it back home as soon as they lay an eye on it. Highlighted are the marked lines at the front, where we find an elongated hood and grill with personality extending to the headlights.

At the rear, there are also modern details such as very aggressive defenses, diffuser inclusive, and one of the most traditional keys of Honda Civic, its rear window. Honda has resorted once again to a design-inclined tailgate and rear window divided by a good spoiler born as an extension of the rear lights.

Turbo Engines

The revolution of the new Honda Civic is not limited to aesthetics alone. Honda has begun to bet, with great force, for turbo engines, as opposed to being loyal to naturally aspirated engine makes. Why the change of mind? The short answer is that modern automotive progress is driven by fuel-efficiency concerns, which are on the agendas of every major government. So downsizing has become a thing, with smaller, turbo engines taking over from larger, naturally aspirated ones.

So from now on, the Honda Civic range will be turbo.

Remarkable new engines VTEC TURBO 1.0 in three cylinders and 1.5 VTEC TURBO in four cylinders will be used in the new Civic. The first, deliver 129 hp at 5,500 rpm, which delivers a maximum torque of 200 Nm at 2,250 rpm, while the second will reach 182 hpr at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 240 Nm between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. Both will be available in manual and automatic transmission.

Lighter Means More Agile

Under its body, we will find a completely new Honda Civic. Honda has developed a new platform that, as promised, will be lighter and stiffer, which will result in a more agile car. According to Honda, the structural rigidity has increased by 41%, which helped engineers improve the suspension system to achieve an optimal compromise between comfort, speed and sportiness. Seriously, can this get any better?

New Technologies Inside

Last but not the least is the tech changes happening in the cabin of the 2017 Honda Civic. We mentioned above that the new Civic got a more modern look but it's not just the look because aboard the new civic a new entertainment system called Honda Connect 2. At the center of the dashboard lies a 7-inch screen with a touchscreen interface. This system will enjoy connectivity with Apple and Android Auto CarPlay, in addition to different applications, navigation, voice recognition, and many other solutions.

As for driving aids and safety, the new Honda Civic will feature the most complete package of Honda SENSING , which includes sensors for the vehicle's blind spots, involuntary change lanes, risk of frontal collision, adaptive cruise control, signal recognition and so on that will surely captivate drivers.

The new Civic truly has a lot to offer. We cant wait to see it at the Paris Motor Show a few days from now.
