Renault's F1 Engine has been making headlines in the Italian Grand Prix. The performance has been improved, according to the latest report.
Autosport noted that technical director Remi Taffin commended the performances of Red Bull and the work of the team at the Monza event. Specifically, the speed trap from last year was decreased as well as the gap to pole position.
Last year, the latter fell at 2.249s while this year it is decreased to only 1.254s.
"We had a trouble-free weekend, so the clear picture of the engine is there," Taffin said.
"We know Mercedes is in front and that Ferrari is, too, but we saw in the race, there is no problem getting past another car when it is needed. It's just emphasising the fact we have made big progress but there is still a way to go."
However, they still recognize that they need to surpass Ferrari, the dominant player in the sport. The technical director added that the Renault's F1 Engine is just slightly above Honda but they will not let it pass them.
They are happy with the results, especially that it is the first time that the engine has received a favorable place at the Monza event.
"The plan is to stay at that level for the rest of the season and next year," Taffin further stated.
