Netflix's latest offering "Stranger Things" gained plenty of positive reviews from fans and critics alike since its debut, so fans are, no doubt, thrilled about the news that it has been renewed for a second season.

The streaming service announced the renewal of the 1980s-set thriller starring Winona Ryder on Wednesday, and as the creators and the other people behind the show set to prepare in establishing the show's next installment, executive producer Shawn Levy reveals that they will remain loyal to the core characters the people have come to know and love.

Levy, who was one of the few people who helped bring "Stranger Things" to Netflix through his production unit 21 Laps Entertainment, also emphasized that the show will focus on extending the universe it made in the first season. He adds that the producers of the show are careful in trying not to increase the scale "at the expense of character."

"We're just really policing ourselves rigorously to root every scene, every episode in the characters that we all love," Levy said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Dan Cohen, who also executive produces the Matt and Ross Duffer creation, divulged that the writers already have an idea on what to do for the second season in terms of the story.

"Stranger Things" is set to debut some time in 2017, and will consist of nine full episodes for fans all over the world to binge-watch. The Duffer Brothers previously said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the second season will be set outside the Hawkins, Indiana setting in the year 1984, one year after the events of the first season finale.

And for those who are interested in knowing what will happen to a certain mysterious child, Ross Duffer says: "We don't know about Eleven. We leave that up in the air."
