Porsche 918 Spyder Debuts At Goodwood Festival Of Speed

The Porsche 918 Spyder made its U.K. debut on the opening day the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Friday.

It was the same model that made its popular global debut at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, The rousing reception from its fans made convinced Porsche to green light the production of the Porsche 918 Spyder.

The model comes with hybrid technology and the concept model is estimated to consume a mere three litres of fuel per 100 km (1 gallon/62 miles). The concept version's V8 petrol engine has a capacity to deliver more than 500 hp, which is assisted by two electric motors with a total of at least 160KW (219hp).

Auto experts believe the body design of the Porsche 918 Spyder has been inspired from the Carrera GT and Porsche 917 race car. The production version of the two-seater, open-top concept version features a manual roof system with removable roof panels that can be stowed in the front luggage compartment.

The first batch of vehicles are set to be released in November 2013.
