Building crankshafts for Ferrari 458 Italia models seems to have turned out to be a big problem for the Italian car maker.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the world class Italian car maker has recalled its 458 Italia and California models to fix a technical snag in the crankshafts. The move was taken by the Ferrari management after the owners of the same models complained of the persisting problems in the crankshafts. Affected models were built in the year of 2011-12.
The Italian carmaker seems to have never noticed the problems in the crankshaft. The technical experts said that if the problem of crankshaft persists, it may result in the seizure of the engine and sometimes the increasing friction in the crankshaft may also result in fire. The NHTSA said that only one percent of the vehicle owners of the 2011-12 versions of Ferrari 458 models are being recalled and the Ferrari has promised of repairing the technical problem free of cjarge. Ferrari said in an official statement that so far no models from the company have met with any injuries or accidents due to failure of crankshafts.
The Ferrari North America division has personally posted letters to all owners of the 458 Italia to roll out their models back to the garage of the car maker to fix the faulty crankshaft.
