Daimler Chrysler announced on Monday that it's recalling 87,000 models of its latest Jeep Wranglers in. U.S., Canada and elsewhere due to risk of fires.

A technical snag in the automatic transmission could lead to risk of fire. Chrysler Jeep Wranglers built in the year of 2010 will be recalled as per the complaint filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The action from the Daimler Chrysler comes in the wake of reported complaints from the owners of Jeep Wranglers about vehicles catching fire. In Chrysler's report filed to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published on its website, the world class automakers blame on the "less than optimal clearance between exhaust catalyst and the automatic transmission skid plate."

The Chrysler Group issued a public notice to all the owners of Jeep Wranglers about a cost-free repair and if it required, the company will also install additional features.

After going through the complaint filed by the Chrysler Group, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has inspected the same version of models from 2007 to 2011 and found only the models built in 2010 had the defects in automatic transmission console.

"We respect the agency's findings of technical difficulties in Jeep Wrangler," said the Chrysler Group through a released statement. "We were prompted to explore the problem in our vehicles after a series of complaints were filed to us of their vehicles getting caught on fire in the automatic transmission console. So, as per the rules and regulations, we have provided the agency with the required details of production and everything. And we make an official announcement that no injuries have been reported from our vehicle owners." reads the statement issued by Chrysler Group.
