Toyota used the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show as an opportunity to unveil two concept cars that give off total different vibes.

The first is called the Kikai and is designed to let drivers know the amount of work that went into its production by showing them what's under the hood, according to NEWS.com.au. The Japanese automaker explained in a press release that the point of making the car's inside visible is to help people "appreciate the complex beauty of the mechanical aspects of cars."

"More broadly, it reminds us of the appeal of the physical and tactile in a digital age," Toyota said.

The Kikai comes with an F1-like cockpit for one person to sit in the front and two in the back.

Exposed parts include the front and rear suspensions, as well as the rear-mounted engine, Autoblog reported. The driver will be able to watch the tires in action through windows mounted near the floor.

Toyota's second concept vehicle is the S-FR sports car, which comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine matched with a manual transmission that provides 97kW of energy.

The 980kg S-FR appears to be ready for production, and if it gets far enough, it will join the 86 sports cars that Toyota plans to launch by 2017, NEWS.com.au noted.

The Tokyo Motor Show saw the unveiling of several other concept cars, according to The Verge. Mercedes-Benz showed off its self-driving Vision Tokyo, and Nissan debuted its Teatro For Dayz.
