The creators of the upcoming James Bond film "Spectre" appeared to be extremely dedicated to causing as much destruction in their action scenes as possible, blowing up seven of the 10 Aston Martin DB10 sports cars that were specifically designed for the film.

The total cost of the destruction was £24 million ($36.3 million) for what will be the most expensive 007 movie to date, according to the Daily Mail. The DB10, which comes with an ejector seat, is driven by Bond, played by Daniel Craig, in a chase scene in which the spy is trying to evade the villainous Mr. Hinx, played by Dave Bautista, who drives a Jaguar C-X75.

While Aston Martin, which has been a long-time sports car supplier for the Bond series, must be pleased to have one its cars featured in such a huge film, it's a shame to see a high-performance vehicle such as the DB10 be at the receiving end of such destruction. The sports car can supposedly go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and apparently has a greater top speed than the two-seater Vantage model that it is based on, which can go 180 mph, The Telegraph reported. It also comes with Aston Martin's 4.7-litre V8 engine, which made its debut in 2008.

The DB10, which is currently not available to customers, bears a sleek appearance and comes with brawny shoulders and arches on the front wheels.

The chase scene involving the DB10 took place in the Vatican, the Colosseum and along the River Tiber, the Daily Mail reported. The producers also had to consider the risk of the car crashing into the Vatican, which they said would have been "catastrophic."

The DB10 wasn't the only luxurious car to be subjected to explosive action scenes, as Bond flies a full-sized aeroplane through a barn in the Alps and crashes it into Hinx's Land Rover in another scene.

"We set the record for smashing up cars on Spectre," chief stunt coordinator Gary Powell told Event magazine Sunday, NDTV reported. "We set the record for smashing up cars on Spectre.

"In Rome, we wrecked millions of pounds worth. They were going into the Vatican at top speeds of 110 mph. We shot one entire night for four seconds of film."

"Spectre" will hit theatres in the U.K. on Oct. 26, but Bond fans in the U.S. will have to wait until Nov. 6 to see the film, as well as witness the DB10's destruction.
