GM Says Dogs Like Them the Best

General Motors appealed to pet owners at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday, showing off its pet-friendly features.

On April 11, celebrating the National Pet Day, Chevrolet of GM not only showcased their new products at the auto show but also explained what makes a vehicle pet-friendly .

"To avoid stress, do your homework in advance and make note of your specific pet’s needs and review safety features," said Charlotte Reed, a pet lifestyle expert and First for Women pet solutions columnist.

"Whether you need space, special safety features or convenience technologies, today’s automobiles offer a range of options that can make traveling more enjoyable,” Reed added.
According to the 2011 AAA/Kurgo study, there are 78 million dogs in 46 million U.S. households. 56 percent of them have driven with their dog at least once a month and 52 percent to have taken away their attention because they were petting the dog. The study also showed that only 16 percent use a pet restraint.

GM claimed to have features that pet owners would like to have.

“From subcompact hatchbacks to full-size SUVs, Chevy vehicles today provide plenty of choices to meet the needs of owners and pets of all shapes and sizes," said Reed.

The Chevy Equinox, for example, has a lane-departure warning system, stability and traction control, and forward-collision alerts to help the driver from possible danger. In addition, Chevy Traverse crossover has large interior space, folding seats, and rear cooling system. Equinox, Traverse, and Tahoe all offer power lift-gates.
