Lincoln unveiled its next-generation MKX mid-size crossover today at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, which is expected to boost sales for Ford's luxury brand in China and North America.
What is it?
The 2016 MKX is longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor. The crossover has adaptive electric power steering and a number of driver assist technologies like lane-keeping assist and a feature that holds the brakes in traffic until a driver accelerates.
What's new or changed?
A standard 3.7-liter V6 or an optional 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine is under the hood, which generates 330 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque.
MKX comes with a base audio system or the optional 13-speaker Revel system. The Ultima system offers 19 speakers on the Black Series top-of-the-line trim level.
The crossover doesn't have the Sync 3 infotaiment system—yet. Instead, the updated MyLincoln Touch infotainment system comes with more buttons and knobs to address customer concerns over the haptic sliding bar to adjust volume.
The liftgate opening was redesigned to make it easy for anyone to use, according to Lincoln's Design Director David Woodhouse.
Can I buy it?
The 2016 MKX will launch in the fall. Pricing is expected to be announced closer to the sale date.
