Not content to let sibling Land Rover handle the sport-utility vehicle market while it concentrates on sports and luxury cars, Jaguar is introducing its own SUV: the 2016 F-PACE.
Blame it on a market that demands that luxury manufacturers also produce an SUV, the F-PACE is arguably born out of necessity. This teaser image shows only a portion of the upcoming SUV, which will borrow heavily from the well-received C-X17 SUV concept that Jaguar has shown at various auto shows over the last two years. The F-PACE will be an all-wheel drive addition to the Jaguar lineup that features a liberal use of aluminum and...we have to wait for later in the year for further details. Jaguar was mum on specifics at show time.
The F-PACE will be an entirely new model, and Jaguar's first SUV. Note the styling cues influenced by the F-type and upcoming XE as hints whence the F-PACE derived.
While not a feature, per se, it's curious that the F-PACE will be manufactured in Solihull, England—the spiritual home of legendary off-roaders like the Land Rover Defender.
The F-PACE will join the Jaguar lineup in 2016.
