Android 7.1.2 Nougat could finally be unleashed to the public on April 3. Note that this is not an April Fools' Day joke. So, rejoice Android users! This comes approximately six weeks following the initial release of the beta build for a handful of Nexus and Pixel phones.
The specific timeline was supported by the largest carrier in Canada, Rogers. The company has listed that the Pixel phones will receive an update enabling Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) and the latest security updates on April 3. VoLTE allows users to make phone calls with the use of their Internet connection instead of relying on the phone's signal, reports Express UK.
Initially, this doesn't seem like much of a big hint. But the Canadian wireless telephone company has been testing VoLTE service on the Pixel devices using the Android 7.1.2 beta. Also, remember that the Android 7.1.1 March 5 security patch doesn't enable VoLTE, although the Canadian company has their own Rogers-only version, according to Android Central.
Also, Android 7.1.2 Nougat's public release timeline correlates with what Dave Burke, VP of Android, pointed out in a blog post last January: Google is readying a public release for "a couple of months." And a couple of months works out if what the report says is true.
When Google released Android 7.1.2 beta build for Pixel and few Nexus devices, the tech giant noted that it was "an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements," including "bug fixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users."

But note that both Burke's initial blog and Roger's announcement does not "officially" confirm Google's plan for the wide release of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update. However, the first week of April is around the time when the tech giant releases OTA images, security bulletins, and factory images every month.
While the new Android 7.1.2 Nougat update may not be as exciting, we can't really tell if it will be released on April 3, but we will keep you updated. At least Pixel owners on Rogers will get to have their own update, the VoLTE.
