A number if leaked emails between Wal-Mart executives stated that early sales numbers for the mega-chain store were the worst in seven years according to USA Today.
"Have you ever had one of those weeks where your best- prepared plans weren't good enough to accomplish everything you set out to do?" said Cameron Geiger, senior vice president of Wal-Mart U.S. Replenishment in a Feb. 1 e-mail to executives. "Well, we just had one of those weeks here at Walmart U.S. Where are all the customers? And where's their money?"
The emails began to make their way around the internet last week and internal communications caused quite a problem for the retail store. In emails from Feb. 12, Wal-Mart's Vice President of Finance and Logistics Jerry Murray revealed the company was in its biggest rut since 2006.

"In case you haven't seen a sales report these days, February MTD [month-to-date] sales are a total disaster," said Murray. "The worst start to a month I have seen in my [roughly] seven years with the company."
Wal-Mart shares ended last week down 2.2 percent at $69.30 apiece according to the report. After the news of the leaked emails broke, the company's stock dropped to as low as $68.13 a share according to Bloomberg News.
Both Murray and Geiger have declined to comment on the emails to multiple media outlets.
The company is scheduled to report fourth-quarter numbers on Feb. 21.
"As with any organization, we often see internal communications that are not entirely accurate, that lack the proper context and represent individual opinions," said a Wal-Mart spokesman according to USA Today.
