What was once an anonymous blog of witty jabs at customers kept by a Seattle-area barista has been exposed by another coffee website and subsequently picked up by news sites across the Internet, earning the once-unknown barista a day of online fame, but also cost him his job.
Matt Watson, 30, was fired from his job at All City Coffee in Seattle, Wash. after his blog Bitter Barista was brought to the attention of his boss and the company that owns All City Coffee, reported "Good Morning America".
"The website blew up the first week and made rounds on the coffee circuit," said Watson to "GMA". "I always kept it anonymous, not to get my boss or the company in trouble."
But another coffee-related website, Sprudge.com, which covers coffee news and events, investigated into the identity of the Bitter Barista blogger, publishing his name and the name of the coffeehouse where Watson worked as a barista, "GMA" reported.
"There's a lot of anger in this blog... it should be the stuff of mild parody, not an all-out assault on whomever walks through the door of your cafe," Sprudge.com wrote, according to "GMA".
Wilson said to GMA that he thought Sprudge would like his work, but that is was now evident they did not care much for it.
"They said only some satirical work is acceptable and they linked their own website," "GMA" reported Wilson said.
The report indicated Watson said now that he has some free time on his hands he like to focus on making hip-hop music.

* "When I ask 'for here or to go?' I'm only curious what kind of cup you want... Not what your plans for the day are."

* "I like to use a lot of big words when I tweet, that way if my boss ever finds my twitter account, he won't understand any of it."
