Retro gamers would find the Nintendo NES Classic Edition as the perfect gift over the holidays. Now that the Nintendo Mini NES has officially returned, it is still safe to bet that most of the gamers that appreciate 80s gaming still do not have the retro console yet as it's still very difficult to obtain. The 8-bit console reboot has been selling like hotcakes ever since it was launched and people who already have it will agree that it has one big flaw: very short controller wires.
The connecting cable for the NES Classic Edition's controller towards the base console is just 2 and a half feet long. This would mean that if someone sets the Nintendo Mini NES console up on a big screen, the user would either sit too close to the TV or would need a long HDMI cable so that it can be setup from a distance.
How the Nintendo NES Classic Edition's Short Controller Cord Can Be Resolved Wirelessly
On top of the already awesome solution by Nyko, which adds an extension to the length of the controller cords for the Nintendo NES Classic Edition, a wireless solution is also available. 8Bitdo's NES30 Classic Edition Wireless Controller Set would solve the short ranged default controller cords and gives gamers the freedom to sit anywhere in the room playing Nintendo NES classic games.
As observed on their Amazon listing, the NES Bluetooth controller has two extra buttons labeled X and Y. Those who have gone through 80s gaming can easily understand that these extra buttons are mostly used as automatic rapid taps for the original A and B Buttons, alleviating the hassle of rapidly tapping the controller buttons by just letting the thumbs sit on them.
The Nintendo NES Classic Edition wireless controllers can be connected by plugging in the receiver on the base console while it's turned off. When done, the start button from the wireless controller should be pressed for 3 seconds then followed by pressing the orange button on the receiver. This will initiate the pairing, according to Android Central. The NES30 Classic Edition Wireless Controller can also be hooked up with next generation consoles.
It is important to note that the reason why the controllers are not wireless by default is that Nintendo most probably have aimed the NES Classic Edition to remain classic. What better way to stay 80's than to retain the wired controller design. For those who prefer the Nintendo NES controller to be "wired", the solution from Nyko would better serve the purpose.
